Parliament Police Station CRACKS DOWN on FAKE job scam RACKET

NAIROBI – Officers from the Parliament Police Station have arrested two women in connection with a sophisticated scam targeting job seekers with fraudulent National Police Service (NPS) recruitment letters.

The suspects, identified as Evaline Jepchirchir Rotich and Jane Chepkonga Chelanga, were apprehended following multiple complaints from members of the public. The victims reported being swindled in the bustling Kencom area after the suspects promised guaranteed employment within the NPS in exchange for large sums of money.

Acting on a tip-off, detectives conducted a swift operation leading to the arrests. During the operation, authorities recovered KSh 330,200 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from the criminal scheme.

Investigations took a new turn upon interrogation of the suspects, prompting detectives to pursue a lead in the Upper Hill area. There, a third suspected accomplice fled the scene upon spotting the police, abandoning a Mazda Station Wagon, registration number KDV 862D. A search of the vehicle yielded two additional fake NPS calling letters, suggesting the operation may be part of a wider syndicate.

The two arrested suspects are currently detained and undergoing processing, pending arraignment in court. The abandoned vehicle has been impounded as a key exhibit.

A manhunt is underway for the third suspect who evaded capture. Police are urging anyone who may have fallen victim to similar job scams, particularly involving promises of NPS recruitment, to come forward and report to the Parliament Police Station or their nearest police post.
