Court hand man life sentence in Kilifi County who committed a terrible act against his own little cousin
The Kilifi Chief Magistrate, Hon. Charles Obulutsa, delivered the tough ruling on Tuesday against this 26-year-old casual labourer. He got convicted for sodomising his five-year-old relative, an offence that falls under the Sexual Offences Act.
The magistrate made it clear that the prosecution, led by counsel Ridhwan Mohamed, brought strong evidence forward. Five witnesses stepped up, along with solid exhibits, proving the case beyond any doubt.
The court pointed out how the accused took advantage of the child's young age, knowing fully well the boy couldn't give any consent. He abused the family blood connection, betraying trust and preying on the innocent little one in the worst way.
When the child reached hospital, he was clearly in pain and struggling to walk properly. A relative who rushed to Kilifi County Hospital after hearing the news found the minor crying in agony.
The young boy himself bravely told the court how the accused tricked him into going to a nearby farm, where the awful abuse happened more than once. He eventually opened up to his grandmother, which led the family to seek medical help right away.
With the child's mother away working in Qatar, the grandmother had been looking after him. A doctor who checked the boy confirmed injuries that matched sexual assault and presented the treatment records in court.
The accused tried to defend himself under oath, claiming he was being framed and denying everything. But the magistrate wasn't convinced—his story couldn't shake the solid evidence from the prosecution.
In the end, Hon. Obulutsa relied heavily on the medical proof and what the witnesses said. He concluded that every key part of the crime was proven: the child's tender age, the act itself, and clearly identifying the culprit.
The man was found guilty of defilement and sentenced to life behind bars. There was also an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a child, but the main conviction stood firm.
This dark incident happened back on 7 November 2024 in the Kitengwani area of Kilifi County. The family and community now face the long road of helping this young boy heal from the trauma.
